The Heinrich Schütz Conservatory Dresden (HSKD) is a music school in Dresden named after the composer Heinrich Schütz and is one of the largest music schools in Saxony .

The HSKD was founded on January 1st, 1996 as the successor to the Dresden City Music School and the State Music School of Saxony . It is a member of the Association of German Music Schools (VdM) and is financed by the state capital Dresden and the Free State of Saxony , in addition to the tuition fees . The grant from the City of Dresden amounts to 2.1 million euros annually with a total budget of 6 million euros.

In addition to the main branch, which was renovated from 2006 to 2008, the teaching locations are also several branch offices. The main office in Glacisstraße is divided into three seamlessly connecting buildings (A, B and C), whereas building C, which is connected to building B by a glass tunnel on the first floor, mainly houses the administration and management.
