Brennan Evans (born January 16, 1982 in Camrose , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player . Since August 2015 he has been playing for the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League on the position of defender .
Career
After Evans had started his career in lower-class Canadian junior leagues between 1996 and 1999, the Seattle Thunderbirds from the Western Hockey League signed him at the end of the 1998/99 season . He came to only one use in the playoffs, but was part of the regular staff in the following two seasons. Since they were not satisfied overall with the defender's performance, he was given to the Kootenay Ice shortly after the start of the 2000/01 season within the league . There Evans' performances also increased in the offensive area. In the following, the Canadian won both the President's Cup and the Memorial Cup with the Ice . As a result, Evans went into his final year as a junior player in the 2002/03 season, which he finished with a career record of 23 points scorer.
Before the 2003/04 season, the Calgary Flames from the National Hockey League signed him without drafting . They first used him on their farm team in the American Hockey League with the Lowell Lock Monsters . In the NHL playoffs, in the course of which the Flames advanced to the final for the Stanley Cup , Evans came to his first two NHL appearances. Due to the lockout of the 2004/05 NHL season , however, he came to no further assignments and spent the season again in the AHL with the Lock Monsters. For the 2005/06 season he moved within the league to the Binghamton Senators before he signed a contract with the newly formed Worcester Sharks as a free agent . There Evans played a solid season, in the course of which he set a personal record with 16 scorer points. As a reward, he received an NHL contract with the San Jose Sharks in the summer of 2007 , but continued to play in Worcester throughout the year. After the season, the Anaheim Ducks signed him for two years. They used him exclusively in the farm team at the Iowa Chops . After the Chops were excluded from the American Hockey League, Evans was given to the Toronto Marlies for the following season . He was also a regular player in Toronto and, like last year, spent around 200 minutes in the penalty box. In July 2010 he signed a contract with the St. Louis Blues . Again, the defender was denied a use in the NHL during the regular season, while he was regularly used with the Peoria Rivermen . In July 2012, the Canadian was signed by the Grand Rapids Griffins .
After three years and a Calder Cup win with the Griffins, he moved to the Texas Stars in August 2015 , where he signed a one-year contract.
