Heinrich Alfes

Heinrich Alfes (* 1821 in Emtinghausen ; † 1907 in Bremen ) was the founder of the streetcar Bremerhaven and the Nuremberg-Fürth Tramway Company .

In 1879 Alfes received a concession for a horse-drawn tram between Lehe and Geestemünde and founded the Bremerhaven Tram Company together with the Bremen lawyer Wilkens and the banker Loose .

On April 12, 1881, the City of Nuremberg's Magistrate granted the Bremen merchant Heinrich Alfes a 40-year concession for the construction and operation of a horse-drawn tram in Nuremberg and Fürth. This led to the establishment of the Nuremberg-Fürth Tram Company, which set up a horse-drawn tram route through Fürther Strasse to the Fürth fruit market. In Nuremberg, Heinrich-Alfes-Strasse was named after the founder of Nuremberg local transport.
