Heinrich Ballmann

Heinrich Ballmann (born November 6, 1856 in Hall in Tirol , † September 22, 1922 in Feldkirch ) was an Austrian lawyer, composer and music collector.

Heinrich Ballmann was the son of Alois Ballmann (1814–1882), organist and choir conductor in Hall. He attended high school in Hall and then studied law. In 1894 he became adjunct to the district court in Dornbirn , in 1900 he became a district judge, in 1910 a district judge and in 1920 a higher district judge in Feldkirch. From 1894 to 1920 he was a mandate of the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum .

Heinrich Ballmann was very musical and composed songs, church works and piano music, among other things. Above all, he owned an extensive collection of musical manuscripts and prints that went back to his father. This came into the music collection of the Tyrolean State Museum via the Haller city archive and forms an important part of the music collection there.

He wrote articles on Tyrolean artists for volumes 4, 11 and 12 of the General Lexicon of Fine Artists from Antiquity to the Present .
