Heinrich Band

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Band (* 4. April 1821 in Krefeld , † 2. December 1860 ibid) was the inventor of the bandoneón , also called Bandonion or bandoneon.

Heinrich Band took over a small music shop from his father. Until 1844 he was only able to sell 40 to 56-note accordions in his shop , which he obtained from Saxony . In 1848 he constructed the 68-note bandonion , which was later called the bandoneón. Heinrich Band began to make the changes to the supplied instruments in series, it has been proven that sales jumped as a result.

The bandoneón is actually a concertina , to which Heinrich Band added the small but decisive changes to the successful instrument. Soon the name "Bandoneón" became a quality designation within the harmonica instruments .
