Heinrich Gruter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Gruter , also Hinrich Gruter (* probably in Münster; † July 17, 1524 in Lübeck ) was a German merchant and councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Heinrich Grüter, a businessman from Westphalia, married Dorothea Divessen, the daughter of the Lübeck mayor David Divessen , into the Lübeck patriciate. In 1518 he was elected councilor in Lübeck himself. His family coat of arms can be found in the collection of Lübeck citizens' seals.

Together with his wife, who died on September 26, 1548, he was buried in Lübeck's Marienkirche . The stone grave slab with brass inlay of both family coats of arms, which was only laid in 1557, is described in the literature with all the inscriptions and symbols, but has not been preserved. His brother-in-law David Divessen was also elected to the council in 1528.
