Heinrich Hase (sculptor)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Hase was a wood carver and sculptor in Naumburg .

His life data are unknown. But his works are attested for the 16th century, at least those in Naumburg (Saale) . He is mainly known for the fountain figure of the Wenceslas Fountain in Naumburg , which was created in 1579 and was probably commissioned by the city council of Naumburg, for which he received 9 guilders. This in turn is the patron saint of the city. There is also evidence of his activity in the Wenceslas Church , with his sermon chair from 1584 being replaced by a baroque sermon pulpit. His preaching chair is now in the Naumburg City Museum. Whether he had civil rights in Naumburg cannot be said with certainty, because the Naumburg Citizens Register does not mention the name Heinrich Hase.
