Heinrich Huwart ( December 29, 1822 in Berlin - December 20, 1873 in St. Petersburg ) was a German theater actor .

Life

Huwart only went to the stage in his 26th year and became a member of the Basté Theater Society. With the same he made all criss-cross movements, but left it in 1851 and took a job with Kroll in Berlin. Here he played first heroes and lovers and was extremely popular.

After three years of activity he came to Riga, then to Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg and Wroclaw. Finally, in 1863 he received a call to the court theater in St. Petersburg, where he made his debut as "Philipp" ( Don Carlos ), "König" ( plait and sword ), "Soliman" ( Zriny ). There he went into the character subject and was honored and appreciated by both the court and the public. He worked at this court stage for ten years and has recently distinguished himself particularly in the humorous and comical father roles.

On December 15, 1873 he played "Odoardo Galotti" with great discomfort. He finished the role with difficulty. The cholera prevalent there had chosen this artist as its victim, and on December 20th he was a corpse. Death had put an early end to a vigorous life and an outstanding artist.

Huwart knew how to grasp, to move and to amuse. He always found the loudest recognition of his listeners, and so an honorable memory is assured for him in the broadest circles.
