Heinrich Christian Marsmann (* 1938 in Rostock ) is a German chemist ( inorganic chemistry ).

Marsmann studied chemistry at the University of Göttingen with a diploma in 1964 and a doctorate in 1966. To interpret the OH vibration bands in the infrared spectra of simply built hydroxides with hydrogen bonds . As a post-doctoral student, he worked at JR van Wazcr in St. Louis (Monsanto) and at Vanderbilt University until 1969.

In 1973 he completed his habilitation at the Ruhr University in Bochum . He has been a professor at the University of Paderborn since 1975 . In 2004 he retired.

In 1979 he was visiting professor at TU Graz .

He deals with nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy , especially on hetero nuclei, and with silicon chemistry ( siloxanes , sol-gel process ).
