Heinrich Snopek

Heinrich Snopek (* 1651 in Bavorovice , Hluboká nad Vltavou , † July 18, 1709 in Sedlec ) was a Bohemian Cistercian and abbot of the Sedletz Monastery .

Heinrich Snopek, born in 1651 in Bavorovice near Frauenberg in South Bohemia as the son of the farmer Georg Slopek and his wife Dorothea, attended the Jesuit grammar school in Český Krumlov and then entered the Cistercian monastery Goldenkron. He studied philosophy and theology in Prague. After his ordination he was prior in Goldenkron and from 1682 to 1685 superior of the Bernhardskolleg in Prague. As such on 3./13. Elected abbot of Sedletz in September 1685, he had the new monastery church of the Assumption built, but he did not live to see its completion (consecration on May 25, 1714 under his successor Boniface Blahna). He died on July 18, 1709.
