Heinrich Wamhoff

Heinrich Wamhoff (born March 3, 1937 in Bonn , † April 13, 2014 in Sankt Augustin ) was a German biochemist .

Life

Heinrich Wamhoff studied from 1956 to 1963 chemistry and in 1963 at Korte / Tschesche at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn to Dr. rer. nat. PhD. In 1971 he completed his habilitation and in 1972 was appointed adjunct professor. In 1974 he was appointed full professor of organic chemistry and biochemistry and director at the Kekulé Institute for organic chemistry and biochemistry in Bonn. He was chairman of the chemistry department in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences from 1992 to 1994 and 1998 to 2000. In 2002 he retired .

His main areas of work were synthetic organic chemistry and bio-organic chemistry. He developed new methods of natural product chemistry and photochemistry of heterocyclic compounds . He published numerous scientific papers in national and international journals.

He was a liaison professor of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and a participant in the Nobel Laureate Meeting in Lindau . Heinrich Wamhoff and his wife Ingrid were friends and supporters of the Beethoven-Haus Bonn. He was a member of the Rotary Club Bonn-Rheinbrücke.

In 1981 Heinrich Wamhoff was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Fuerstenberg and invested in Augsburg Cathedral on May 23, 1981 by Franz Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . He was last Commander of the Order.
