Life

The first documentary mention of Heinrich von Barby dates to May 1, 1296 and names him as the canon of Magdeburg . In another document he is referred to as Canon of Hildesheim , dated June 26, 1316. After the death of Bishop Johannes I , Heinrich von Barby was elected as the new bishop. But he did not have the support of the Archbishop of Magdeburg, Burkhard III. which is why he did not receive papal confirmation.
