Johannes von Thuchem (also Johann von Tuchen , Tuchem or Tuchheim ) († November 25, 1324 ) was as Johannes I bishop of the diocese of Brandenburg and as this prince-bishop of the bishopric of Brandenburg . He ruled the diocese from 1316 until his death. He belonged to the Premonstratensian Order .

Live and act

Johannes von Thuchem came from a noble family from the ore monastery of Magdeburg . The place Tucheim is located in eastern Saxony-Anhalt . Until 1316 Johannes was provost of Brandenburg. After the death of Bishop Friedrich ( Friedrich von Plötzke ) in the summer of 1316, Johannes von Thuchem was elected as the new bishop on October 4, 1316.

When the diocese was taken over , it seems to have been burdened with high debts . To reduce the debt burden, Johannes von Thuchem sold several villages. The sales of the villages of Tieckow and Weseram, which previously belonged to the episcopal table estate, in 1317 to the provost or the cathedral monastery and Saaringen in 1320 were also the first known documentary mentions of the places.

On November 25, 1324 Johannes I died. He was buried in the Brandenburg Cathedral.
