Heinrich of Saxony (1422–1435)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich von Sachsen (born May 21, 1422 in Meißen , † July 22, 1435 in Dresden ) was a prince from the Wettin dynasty , Margrave of Meißen and Duke of Saxony.

Life

Heinrich was the son of Elector Friedrich the Warrior of Saxony and Katharina of Braunschweig-Lüneburg . Since all four sons were minors when his father died in 1428, a Regency Council took over the guardianship of the inherited lands on behalf of the ducal brothers Friedrich , Sigismund , Heinrich and Wilhelm ; even after the eldest prince and elector came of age, the joint government was initially continued.

Heinrich left only a few traces in history as he died at the age of 13. He is buried in the Princely Chapel of the Meissen Cathedral .
