Heinz-Theo Horst (born November 26, 1947 in Brühl ) is a former German football player .

Career

Horst grew up in the Hürth district of Fischenich and also played in the youth of the local club VfR Fischenich . At the age of 17, Horst , who was mostly deployed as a center forward or right winger, joined the Efferener BC and graduated from the municipal high school in Brühl . As a result, he began studying sports and biology at the Cologne Sports University and after a season at SC Brühl 06/45 1969, Karl-Heinz Schäfer brought him to the amateur team of 1. FC Cologne . With the university team he won the German university championship in 1972 and took part with the student national team at the European championship in Romania (out of the quarter-finals against the Soviet Union). In the following years, the Middle Rhine selection player distinguished himself as a regular goal scorer for the Cologne amateur team.

From Cologne's head coach of the professional team, Zlatko Čajkovski , he was promoted to "amateur with license to play" for the 1974/75 season. On the 4th matchday of the 1974/75 season , Horst came on as a substitute for Heinz Flohe in the 79th minute in the Bundesliga match against FC Bayern Munich (final score 3: 6) ; his only Bundesliga appearance for 1. FC Köln. Also in 1974 he made his football teacher license under Gero Bisanz . With the Cologne amateur eleven he appeared again nationwide in the 1975/76 DFB Cup , in the first round the amateurs lost 4-0 to the later cup winners Hamburger SV .

In 1976 he left 1. FC Köln and played the following years at the local level for Schwarz-Gelb Glessen and SC Brühl 06/45, with the latter club he later worked as a coach for years. On behalf of FIFA , Horst trained 40 coaches in the Principality of Liechtenstein in 1978 . Horst, who remained connected to 1. FC Köln as an AH player , has been running the Berrenrather Hof restaurant in Cologne-Sülz with his wife since 1991 .
