Heinz Hötter

Heinz Hötter (born September 5, 1923 in Barmen (now Wuppertal ), † July 28, 2000 in Essen ) was a German composer, conductor and jazz pianist .

Live and act

Hötter studied composition at the Cologne University of Music . In 1945 he came to the NWDR and composed for its small entertainment orchestra in Cologne, which he also conducted at times. In 1952 Harald Banter brought him to his Media Band as a pianist and composer , with whom he was involved in many radio productions. He wrote arrangements and compositions for this ensemble and accompanied soloists such as Hans Koller , Albert Mangelsdorff and Wolfgang Sauer . He composed the opera “Odysseus”, but also the opening credits for the WDR midday magazine . He also wrote piano pieces, but also symphonic works for orchestra (and choir) and light music . He also arranged for the WDR Big Band Cologne and the SFB dance orchestra; He also worked as a lecturer at the Musischen Bildungsstätte Remscheid and at the University of Münster .
