Heinz Schmitt (Librarian)

Heinz Schmitt (born 1933 in Weinheim ) is a German librarian and non-fiction author.

Life

After graduating from high school in Weinheim, Heinz Schmitt studied German, Romance studies, geography and folklore at the University of Heidelberg and at the University of Tübingen and received his doctorate with a dissertation on the club life of the city of Weinheim an der Bergstrasse .

He trained as a librarian and was a city archivist and museum director in Weinheim for several years. From 1978 to 1988 Schmitt was head of the municipal cultural institutions in Karlsruhe.

Schmitt wrote and published on cultural-historical and folklore topics and produced contributions for the radio.
