Heinz Sommer (resistance fighter)

Heinz Sommer (* 1894 ; † 1944 in Coswig (Anhalt) ) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

Summer was a member of the SPD and worked in the machine Buckau R. Wolf in Magdeburg district Buckau . He was also politically active during the time of the National Socialist tyranny and worked in a resistance group. He passed on information from foreign radio stations and kept in touch with prisoners of war during World War II . He helped and supported Soviet prisoners of war. For this he was arrested by the Gestapo and interned in the Coswig prison. He died here in 1944.

The city of Magdeburg has named a street as Heinz-Sommer-Weg in his honor.
