The Hekima College is a scientific college for Catholic theology founded in 1984 under the name Jesuit School of Theology with headquarters in Nairobi ( Kenya ). As an institutionally independent institution, it belongs to the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and is sponsored by the Jesuit Order . The range of courses includes a three-year course in Catholic theology.
In 2004 the Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations was founded at the college to teach and research about migration , conflict prevention and peacekeeping. The institute, which originally emerged from an initiative by students who were active in refugee work, offers a state-recognized master’s degree in Peace Research and International Relations .
Since 1989 the college has had its own library with around 90,000 volumes and magazines.
The academic organ of the university is the magazine Hekima Review , in which current topics in theology, conflict and peace research and international relations are discussed.
