The Catholic University of Eastern Africa ( English Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA)) is a Catholic University , based in Nairobi , Kenya .
The university was founded in 1984 in Nairobi as The Catholic Higher Institute of Eastern Africa (CHIEA) by the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa ( Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa established (AMECEA)) and by the Congregation for Catholic Education recognized. On September 3, 1984, the official founding act was carried out by the chairman of the AMECEA, Bishop Medardo Joseph Mazombwe . Pope John Paul II personally opened the university on August 18, 1985. On November 3, 1992, the university was granted university status.
The Hekima College in Nairobi, the Tangaza College in Langata (Nairobi) and the Marist International College in Karen (Nairobi) are directly assigned to the CUEA ; Affiliated are the Don Bosco College in Moshi , the Christ the King Major Seminary in Nyeri , the Spiritan Seminary in Arusha in Tanzania , the AMECEA Pastoral Institute in Eldoret and the Chemichemi ya Uzima Center in Nairobi. The company Ukweli Video Production in Nairobi is associated.
The university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as doctoral programs.
