Anouk Anna Hoogendijk (born May 6, 1985 in Woerden ) is a former Dutch soccer player .
Club career
Hoogendijk is a midfielder who can be used as a central defensive or on the flanks - at SV Saestum , her style of play was compared to that of national player Phillip Cocu - but she has also played on the right wing or as a left defender. Her career began in the youth of CSW in Wilnis . After a year with Argon in Mijdrecht , she was a B and A youth with the Legmeervogels in Uithoorn . Then two top clubs in the Hoofdklasse , the top women's division at the time, vied for the 18-year-old, who decided against the reigning Dutch champions Ter Leede and for Saestrum, where she liked the environment better. With her, the Zeister women were able to achieve their seventh and eighth championship titles in 2005 and 2006 and win the Supercup each time. As a result, Hoogendijk also played in the UEFA Cup , in which they reached the quarter-finals in 2006 .
With the introduction of the Eredivisie , Hoogendijk switched to FC Utrecht , which she had raved about as a twelve-year-old and had the opportunity to train there once with the professionals, including Dirk Kuyt , through a television program . On May 28, 2012, Hoogendijk signed for the newly established women's football department of AFC Ajax Amsterdam . After she had made 30 appearances at Ajax in a year and a half, she announced her move to the English FA WSL club Arsenal LFC on January 14, 2014 . However, she only stayed here for half a year, then terminated the contract and returned to Ajax. The reason was that she had not received as much working time as expected. In Amsterdam she signed for one season. The 95-time national player at the time hoped for more appearances from the move - in the club as in Oranje . In the summer of 2017, she ended her playing career at Ajax Amsterdam.
National team
As a 14-year-old Anouk Hoogendijk played in the U-17 national team, two years later in the U-19. On August 6, 2004, she made her debut in the senior national team . She was part of the Dutch squad at the European Championship finals in Finland and secured her team as the last shooter on penalties in the quarter-finals against France to make it to the semi-finals. In 2013 she was also in the EM squad and was used in the three group games, but was eliminated after the preliminary round. On April 8, 2015, she made her 100th international match in the friendly against Norway .
She was also appointed to the squad for the 2015 World Cup , but was not used there. In the first game after the World Cup, an 8-0 win against Belarus in September 2015, she was used again, but she could not be considered for the qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Olympics in her home country due to a stubborn tendon injury in her right thigh. The game against Belarus was Hoogendijk's last international match before she resigned from the Netherlands national team in January 2017.
