The Sport Vereniging (abbreviated SV) Saestum is a Dutch sports club from the city of Zeist . The women's soccer department is a sporting flagship .
history
The association was founded on January 6, 1926. Women's football has only been played since 1981. The SV Saestum has belonged to this class since the Hoofd class was founded. In 1996 the club became champions for the first time. This was the first of five championships in a row. In 1997 and 1998 the club won the cup. After a one-year break, the sixth title was won in 2002. In the year before and in the two years after that, VV Ter Leede from Sassenheim had to give way. In the UEFA Women's Cup they finished second in the group behind the Norwegian champions Trondheims-Ørn . In 2004 they won the cup for the third time and won the first ever Supercup. A year later, the seventh championship was celebrated. The second appearance at European level was more successful. In the first round they left the Spanish champions Athletic Bilbao behind and reached the second round as the first Dutch team. There they came third behind the 1st FFC Turbine Potsdam and Montpellier HSC . A year later you could move into the second round of the UEFA Women's Cup again.
The club has a total of four women's and eleven girls' teams as well as several men's football teams.
