Hel (German band)

Hel was a pagan metal band from Lüdenscheid that was founded in the winter of 1994 by Valdr (Andreas Walther) and disbanded in 2012.

Band history

After the never published demo Miölnir was recorded in the spring of 1995 , the project was put on hold for two years until it was reanimated again in 1997 together with Skaldir (Markus Skroch, also with Elane ). The thoughts and memories demo were recorded together. To work together through the record company Ars Metalli. The first album Orloeg was released there in 1999 .

After problems with Ars Metalli, Hel switched to Det Germanske Folket, where their latest album Falland Vörandi was released in 2005 , a concept album about the death of Balders . Hel's first live concert took place at the Ragnarök Festival in Lichtenfels, Franconia in March 2007. Hamar, Skaldir's brother, who has supported the project since 1997, has been a permanent member of the band since 2010.

The music initially combined epic black metal influences with acoustic guitars and choirs , but the band changed their style on the Tristheim album . The album is purely acoustic and with clear vocals, electric guitars and drums were omitted, similar to Dornenreich and Empyrium .

On December 21, 2012, the band officially announced the breakup on their homepage. She also reported that they are thinking about releasing the album "Falland Vörandi", which has not been officially available for a long time, in a new edition and also releasing songs that have emerged over the years and did not appear on the albums. But there will be no more new music by the band.
