Hero of Artsakh

Hero of Artsakh ( Armenian Արցախի հերոս Arts'akhi heros ) is the highest honor of the not officially recognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh . The award is made by the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The name is reminiscent of Arzach , a province in the historical Armenian Empire, which was located in the area of ​​today's Nagorno-Karabakh . According to the official website of the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, the title of Hero of Artsakh is given only for special services in defense, strengthening economic power and creating important national values . The Order of the Golden Eagle is only given to people who have been recognized as the Hero of Artsakh .

Robert Abajyan was the 24th Hero of Artsakh and, at the age of 19, was the youngest ever to receive this title.

The next lower order is the first and second order battle cross. The order corresponds roughly to the order "National Hero of Armenia" of the Armenian state.
