Helena Flam

Helena Flam (born May 2, 1951 ) is a Swedish sociologist and professor at the University of Leipzig .

Life

Flam emigrated from Poland to Sweden in 1969. After earning a first degree in sociology from Lund University in 1975, Flam received a Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1982. PhD. This was followed by research at the University of Uppsala and at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne and an assistant professorship at the University of Konstanz . Helena Flam has been teaching sociology at the University of Leipzig since 1993.

Her main areas of work are: sociology of emotions , political sociology , sociology of social movements , historical sociology and economic sociology .

In addition to the two most important sociological actor-theoretical action models Homo Oeconomicus and Homo Sociologicus , Helena Flam has developed the model of the Emotional Man as a further action model .
