Helena Jungwirth

Helena Jungwirth (born March 21, 1945 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish opera singer with a mezzo-soprano and alto voice .

Live and act

In her hometown she attended the music and dramatic school. In 1972 she made her debut with Dorabella in Così fan tutte at the Drottningholmer Schlosstheater. In the same year the artist sang the title role in the world premiere of Lars Johan Werle's opera Tintomara at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. In 1973 Helena Jungwirth (and her husband Claes-Håkan Ahnsjö ) became a member of the Bavarian State Opera ensemble. There she excelled in numerous roles, including a. as Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro), Zulma (L'italiana in Algeri), Inez (Il trovatore), Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), Giovanna (Rigoletto), Siegrune (Die Walküre), Fanny Novaková / Kedruta (The excursions of the Mr Broucek), Tralfamadorian (slaughterhouse 5), Hansel (Hansel and Gretel), Tisbe (La Cenerentola), Mrs Pasek (The clever little fox). Opera and concert guest performances led the singer a. a. to Hamburg, Bayreuth, Glyndebourne and London.

On December 11, 1996, the then Bavarian Minister of Culture, Hans Zehetmair, appointed Helena Jungwirth to the position of Bavarian Chamber Singer. For many years the artist was a lecturer in singing at the Nuremberg-Augsburg University of Music.

She has been married to the Swedish opera singer Claes-Håkan Ahnsjö since 1969 . The marriage produced three sons.
