Claes-Håkan Ahnsjö

Claes-Håkan Ahnsjö , also Claes Haakon Ahnsjö (born August 1, 1942 in Stockholm , Sweden ) is a Swedish opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

studied at the Stockholm University of Education. After graduating as a teacher , he studied singing from 1966 to 1969 at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm . He took singing lessons from Erik Saedén , Aksel Schiøtz , and Max Lorenz .

He made his debut in 1969 at the Royal Stockholm Opera as Tamino in Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte . From 1973 to 1999 he was under contract with the Bavarian State Opera in Munich . Here he was appointed chamber singer in 1977.

Since starting at the Bavarian State Opera, he has had numerous guest engagements in Europe, Japan and the USA. He made his American debut in 1975 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in The Seasons of Joseph Haydn . His repertoire includes roles by Haydn, Mozart , Rossini , Verdi and Wagner .

From 1996 to 1997 Ahnsjö was a professor for singing at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . In 2000 and 2001 Claes-Håkan Ahnsjö was head of opera and artistic director of the Royal Stockholm Opera.

Ahnsjö is married to the opera singer Helena Jungwirth . The marriage produced three sons.
