repertoire

At the beginning of his career Saedén also sang the lyrical baritone part in the operas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ( Papageno , Guglielmo , Conte Almaviva ) and Richard Wagner ( Wolfram , Heerrufer ), but very quickly took over the great character roles such as Jochanaan in Salome , Scarpia in Tosca , Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande , Beckmesser in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Klingsor in Parsifal . The carping has long been considered Saedéns special starring role. He drew the figure as a tragic and deeply lonely character and almost completely dispensed with any superficial comedy in his interpretation.
