Helene Reschovsky

Helene Josefine Reschovsky (born April 2, 1907 in Vienna ; † January 24, 1994 in the USA ) was an Austrian-American mathematician and university professor.

life and work

After attending the girls' high school in Vienna, Reschkovsky studied at the University of Vienna from 1925 to 1929 . She did her doctorate in 1930 under Karl Menger with the subject: About rational curves. She then taught at a middle school and was a member of the Mathematical Colloquium. She emigrated to the United States in 1938, where she first worked on her brother's chicken farm and then worked as a math teacher in Bryn Mawr and Wellesley . She became an assistant professor in 1950 and then an associate professor at the University of Connecticut . In 1952 she was listed as a member of the Mathematical Association of America . Her publications deal with geometry and topology .
