Helene Schneiderman

Helene Schneiderman (* 1955 in Flemington , New Jersey ) is an American opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

She began her vocal training at Westminster Choir College , Princeton . She received a Masters Degree in Voice Performance from the University of Cincinnati College of Music. In 1981 she completed an opera singing diploma. In 1982 she became a member of the Heidelberg Opera Ensemble and has performed in many roles at the Stuttgart State Opera since 1984 . In addition to her permanent position there, she appears on numerous international stages. In 1998 she became chamber singer of the Stuttgart Opera and thus the youngest singer to receive this honor.

The internationally renowned opera singer is also known as an interpreter of Jewish songs, with which she grew up as the daughter of a chasan .

In 2008 she was honored with the Otto Hirsch Medal . On May 8, 2010, Helene Schneiderman was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg by Prime Minister Stefan Mappus .
