Helix (multimedia platform)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Helix Technology is a family of multimedia software for the production, delivery and playback of multimedia content from the US software company RealNetworks . In addition to the products of the commercial Helix Media Delivery Platform, open source basic versions of the commercial counterparts are offered under the “Helix DNA” brand, which have been further developed with the cooperation of the open “Helix Community” since release. RealNetworks hoped that the release would give them a better market position over increasingly powerful competing products from Apple and Microsoft . Both product lines have the same version number.
