Hella Sketchy (born January 11, 2001 in Manila , Philippines , † June 27, 2019 in Los Angeles ; real name: Jacob Tyler Thureson ) was an American rapper .

Life

Jacob Tyler Thureson was born in Manila, Philippines. His father Erik Thureson is a filmmaker. Hella Sketchy made a name for himself as a rapper on Soundcloud at the age of 16 , especially since he produced most of his beats himself. His video for Spent a Check reached over 1.3 million views on YouTube . Musically he was close to trap and cloud rap . In addition to his own music, he ran his own beat store with around 300 beats for sale. Even if he worked through many gangsta rap themes in the typical autotune rap style , Christian themes can also be found in his lyrics. In June 2018, Hot New Hip-Hop listed him as one of the top ten rappers on Soundcloud.

In March 2019 he released his self-titled mixtape on the Cupid Soldiers label and was able to sign a contract with Atlantic Records . On June 13, 2019, his parents found the 18-year-old rapper passed out after an overdose . He was resuscitated and taken to a Los Angeles hospital. There he was pronounced dead after 14 days in an artificial coma on June 27, 2019 at 5:11 am. His death caused concern around the world.
