The Hellisfjörður is a small, uninhabited fjord in eastern Iceland . It belongs to the east fjords .
It lies between Hellisfjarðarnes and Viðfjarðarnes south of Norðfjörðurs . In the fjord and the valley beyond there were four farms Hellisfjarðarsel, Björnshús, Hellisfjörður and Sveinsstaðir. A whaling station was operated here by Norwegians between 1901 and 1913, of which hardly anything has remained. The fjord has been uninhabited since 1952. There are only two summer houses here. The fjord is not accessible by roads. The mountains to the neighboring fjords reach heights of up to 558 and 693 m respectively. In autumn 2018 the approximately 1900 hectare land in the fjord was sold to a foreigner.
