Austfirðir

Austfirðir or German East Fjords , the fjords and bays on the east coast of Iceland called.

From North to south:

Mount Glettingur, as the northern limit
the mountain Gerpir
Eystrahorn rock outcrop , as the southern border

Mount Gerpir is the easternmost point of the East Fjords and Iceland.

Transport links

The abandoned town of Húsavík can only be reached via a slope from Bakkagerði . From Egilsstaðir on the ring road , a spur road leads to Seyðisfjörður and another road to Reyðarfjörður and from there through the towns of Fáskrúðsfjörður and Stöðvarfjörður to Breiðdalsvík. From here the ring road runs again along the coast. A dead end road leads from Reyðarfjörður to Eskifjörður and Neskaupstaður.
