The Loðmundarfjörður is a fjord in eastern Islands of the East Fjords belongs.

It is located north of the Seyðisfjörður fjord , but can only be reached from the north from Bakkagerði via the abandoned Húsavík . The Hólalandsvegur (946) and the Loðmundarfjarðarvegur (F946) are together 35 km long. The population rose to 143 in 1860. The population then fell steadily. From 1967 to 1973 Sævarenda was only inhabited by one man. Until January 1, 1973 there was the municipality Loðmundarfjarðarhreppur. Today there are no more permanently inhabited houses in the fjord.

The German painter Bernd Koberling worked in Loðmundarfjörður from time to time.
