The fjord Seyðisfjörður ( dt. "Fjord of the fireplace") is located in the east fjords of Iceland . The village of Seyðisfjörður is right in the fjord .
The fjord is up to 4 kilometers wide and 16 kilometers into the country. The Icelandic port of the Norröna car ferry , which connects Iceland with the Faroe Islands and Denmark , is located in the fjord . Seyðisfjörður is located south of Loðmundarfjörður and the headland in between is called Borgarnes, like the city in western Iceland. To the south we continue at the Dalatangi headland into Mjóifjörður .
During the Second World War, the fjord was the starting or ending point for several Northern Sea convoys .
