Hellmut Berg

Hellmut Philipp Berg (born November 2, 1908 in Bretten , † March 2, 1960 in Cologne ) was a German geophysicist , meteorologist and head of the Institute for Meteorology at the University of Cologne.

Life

After studying astronomy, geophysics, meteorology and physics, Hellmut Berg completed his habilitation in Heidelberg in 1937. He was then head of the Cologne weather station of the Reich Weather Service and since 1938 lecturer in meteorology. In 1945 he was appointed associate professor of meteorology. From 1947 he was head of the institute.
