Helmut Heiland

Helmut Heiland (born May 8, 1937 in Nürtingen ) taught until his retirement on July 1, 2002 at the Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg in the subject of pedagogy with a focus on school pedagogy and general didactics.

Life

Heiland studied pedagogy, philosophy and history at the universities in Tübingen and Munich between 1960 and 1965 . Helmut Heiland received his doctorate in 1965 under Otto Friedrich Bollnow with a thesis on "Friedrich Froebel's world of symbols". He then worked from 1966 to 1969 as an assistant at the pedagogical seminar at the University of Würzburg . Here he completed his habilitation. After working at the Ruhr University of Education and the Ludwigsburg University of Education, Heiland taught as a professor in Duisburg since 1974. He headed the Froebel research center there and was editor of the Duisburg contributions to Froebel research and the complete edition of Friedrich Froebel's letters (in preparation).

In the area of ​​regional history, Heiland devoted himself to researching the Protestant community in Wevelinghoven and published on this. The standard presentation on the topic comes from him.
