Helmut Köhler (politician)

Helmut Köhler (* 1928 in Kemberg , Wittenberg district , † September 14, 2009 in Nuremberg ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

After attending secondary school and graduating from high school in Wittenberg , Köhler worked as a bricklayer . He went to the engineering school in Berlin-Neukölln and was a graduate engineer from 1952. Then he worked in a planning office until 1990. There he worked on industrial project planning for Berlin, was a structural engineer and designer as well as a department and division manager.

In June 1990 Köhler became a member of the SPD. From 1990 to 1994 he sat in the Brandenburg state parliament . He was directly elected in the constituency of Fürstenwalde II.
