Helmut Lötzerich

Helmut Lötzerich (* 1957 in Haan ) is a German trainer and sports scientist.

Helmut Lötzerich completed a degree in sports at the German Sports School Cologne (DSHS) and a degree in biology at the University of Cologne and graduated with the second state examination for teaching at secondary level II and I in 1986. This was followed by a doctoral degree at the Institute for Morphology and Tumor Research at the DSHS until 1988 with a final habilitation in 1995.

Since 1998 Lötzerich has been the deputy director of the institute for nature sports and ecology at the DSHS and since 2000 senior student councilor i. H. (= in-house) at the Institute for Outdoor Sports and Ecology. His work focuses on sports and the immune system, sports and cancer, the immune system in high-performance and amateur athletes, cycling and performance diagnostics.

Helmut Lötzerich has also been a lecturer at the Cologne Trainer Academy since 1994 . From 1977 to 1987 he worked as a track and field trainer for Haaner TV . He himself took part several times in finals over 400 and 4 × 400 meters for Haaner TV and Bayer Leverkusen .
