Helmut Rische

Helmut Rische (born June 12, 1921 - † June 26, 2013 ) was a German medic . He was the founder and long-time director of the Institute for Experimental Epidemiology in Wernigerode , from which the Wernigerode division of the Robert Koch Institute emerged in 1990 . Rische earned particular merits in the field of hygiene and bacterial infection research.

Rische was a member of the SPD and was elected to the district council of the Wernigerode district in 1994 and 1999. He was also a member of the Leopoldina since 1974 .
