Helmut Schmitzberger

Helmut Schmitzberger (born July 29, 1950 in Vienna , Austria ) is an Austrian composer , conductor and musician .

In his early youth he learned to play the accordion and the flugelhorn . He joined the music corps of the Guard Music Vienna in 1970, initially as a flugelhorn player, later also as a trumpeter and horn player. During his time as a military musician, he studied ensemble conducting with M. Müller at the Vienna Conservatory and graduated with success. With other musicians from the music corps, he founded the wind music ensemble Bohemia , with which he achieved great success. Trips to Germany, France, the Czech Republic and of course within Austria followed. After his time as a military musician, he joined the Postmusik in Vienna.

Schmitzberger wrote a large number of works for the genre of so-called Bohemian brass music .
