Helmut Weikart

Helmut Weikart (born April 25, 1917 in Bremen ; † December 6, 1993 ) was a German SPD politician .

education and profession

Helmut Weikart attended elementary school and then vocational school. He served in the Navy from 1936 to 1945, most recently as chief helmsman. After the war he began an apprenticeship as a bricklayer, which he completed in 1948 with the journeyman's examination. In 1953 he passed the master craftsman examination. From 1957 to 1959 he attended an evening course at the state technical school in Hagen. From 1969 to 1970 a master builder course followed at the Dortmund Chamber of Crafts. Weikart worked as a bricklayer until 1957, as a construction technician from 1957 to 1964, and from 1964 as a site manager.

politics

Helmut Weikart was a member of the SPD from 1950. From 1963 he acted as SPD local chairman in Dortmund-Berghofen. From 1964 to 1970 he was a council member of the city of Dortmund. Weikart was a member of the Bau-Steine-Erden industrial union from 1946; from 1950 then member of the metal industry union.

From July 26, 1970 to May 28, 1980, Helmut Weikart was a directly elected member of the 7th and 8th Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia for the constituency 111 of Dortmund III.
