Helmut Ziegler

Helmut Ziegler (born November 12, 1913 in Maikammer ; † October 4, 1971 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) was a German doctor and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Ziegler attended the secondary school in Neustadt an der Haardt from 1925 to 1930, the Siegmund Institute in Mannheim from 1930 to 1931 and the secondary school in Schwetzingen from 1931 to 1935. After graduating from high school, he studied medicine in Heidelberg and Freiburg im Breisgau . He became a member of the Corps Rhenania . In 1935 he was sentenced to four months in prison by the Frankenthal Special Court for violating the treachery law . He served a month of this in the Freiburg District Prison before the rest was granted amnesty. 1933–1935 he was a member of the SA . In 1935 he was expelled from the SA for "insulting the Führer". Ziegler's complaint against this decision did not lead to a reopening.

In 1938, criminal proceedings against Ziegler were initiated by the NS Student Union , Gau Baden, student management at the University of Freiburg. With the decision of the legal and judicial office of the Reichsstudentenführung, the application for permanent exclusion of Zieglers from studying at all German universities was granted. Ziegler also filed a complaint against this. In 1939 a new decision was made to remove Ziegler from the university. After another complaint, the proceedings were discontinued on December 16, 1939 due to the pardon of the Reich Minister for Science.

Since September 9, 1939 he did military service and retired from the army as a sergeant in 1945. In 1945 he became a doctor in Innsbruck and then until his discharge on May 5, 1945, a junior doctor at the Edenkoben hospital . He later lived in Maikammer as a self-employed winemaker and wine merchant.

After the war he joined the SPD. For the SPD he was a member of the Advisory State Assembly in 1946/47 .

On September 19, 1946, Ziegler's application for recognition by the “Victims of Fascism” care center for the Landau and Bergzabern districts was rejected. On June 17, 1947, he received a certificate from there that he had been anti-fascist.
