Hemamieh
Hemamieh (El-Hammamiya) is a village in Middle Egypt on the east side of the Nile, in the Sauhadsch Governorate . The place is known in Egyptology mainly because of the cemeteries from prehistoric and pharaonic times. From 1922 to 1931 Guy Brunton excavated around 10,000 graves in the region from Qaw el-Kebir in the south to Matmar in the north over a distance of approx. 36 km, covering all epochs of pre-Islamic, Egyptian history and thus parts of the eastern bank of the wadjit -Gaues cover. At Hemamieh there were some smaller grave fields, including important burials of the Badari culture . A small settlement from prehistoric times has also been excavated here. Rock graves (see: Kachenet (I.) , Kachenet (II.) ) Of the Gau princes of the Wadjit Gau come from the Old Kingdom .
