Hemeroplanes is a genus of the moth family in the Schwärmer familythat is commonin Central and South America .

The genus was first described in 1819 by the German entomologist Jacob Huebner .

features

In adult moths the basic color of the upper side of the wing is red, dark brown or dark gray with a large difference in the pattern geometry. There is a silver stain on the front wing. The rear wing is rounded. They are slightly lighter in color towards the rear.

The head has a comb and the eyes are half hidden.

The antennae are long, thin, not club-shaped and have hooks at the ends. They are about half the length of the body.

The chest is light to dark brown. The belly is dark brown and has yellow or orange markings in all species.

The wing spans ranged from 34 to 95 mm.

Larvae

The colors are green or gray with a small flattened head and an enlarged breast segment.

Dolls

The pupae are glossy black. The pupal phase lasts three weeks.
