Hendrik Poinar

Hendrik N. Poinar (* 1969 in Utrecht ) is an American evolutionary biologist .

Life

The son of entomologist George Poinar and Roberta Poinar became known for extracting DNA from extinct animals. He did his doctorate in Munich and then worked at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig .

Currently (2006) he is a professor at McMaster University in Hamilton (Ontario) , Canada .
