Henk Kuijpers

Henk Kuijpers (born December 10, 1946 in Haarlem ) is a Dutch comic artist and author. In the German-speaking world, he is best known for the Franka series , which was first published by Carlsen and later by Epsilon .

Kuijpers originally studied sociology , but after graduating he decided to become a cartoonist. He published his first stories in the magazines Pep and Baberiba . His story The crime museum ("Het misdaadmuseum") was published by Pep in 1974/1975 . Due to the positive reactions of the readers who asked for a sequel, he developed one of the main characters ( Franka ) of this story, which was the birth of Kuijper's trademark.

On January 11, 2010, Henk Kuijpers in Amsterdam was declared the “Greatest Stripheld van Nederland” ( greatest comic artist in the Netherlands ) by Jan Kruis .
