Henley is a constituency of the British House of Commons in the county of Oxfordshire . The constituency was created in its current form in 1885 and covers much of Henley-on-Thames , Thame and Chinnor . He sends a representative to parliament.

history

The constituency was created in 1885 from the former county constituency Oxfordshire, which was represented by three representatives in the House of Commons. This was divided into the three constituencies of Banbury, Henley and Woodstock. Henley has been represented by members of the Conservative Party since the general election in January 1910 . Only from 1906 to 1910 was a member of the Liberal Party in office .

Since the election in 2008, which was due because Boris Johnson , the previous representative office as the Mayor of London Antret, represents John Howell the constituency in the House of Commons.

The constituency had an unemployment rate of 1.1% in April 2013 . This value was significantly lower than the national average of 3.8%.
