Thame is a town and an administrative unit in the District South Oxfordshire in the county of Oxfordshire , England. Thame is 12 miles from Oxford . In 2011 it had 11,561 inhabitants. Thame was founded in the time of the Anglo-Saxons and then belonged to the Kingdom of Wessex . In 1086 the place is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Tame . Until his death on May 20, 2012, the Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb lived on the Prebendal House estate in Thame. Gibb was buried in the cemetery of St. Mary's Church in Thame. A street in the village was named after the musician.
